About the motif:
The wild boar is widely used in celtic culture. Bravery in battle, hospitality, fertility... By its external characteristics it represents strength, ferocity, fearlessness, thus it became the symbol associated with war and warriors, and appears on weapons, sheilds, and war trumpets. The boar was also a spiritual creature of magic and the Other World associated with druids and many deities.
