Celtic Copper Craft,

Hi, my name is Tom;

I am from Dublin and self-taught in the craft of copper repousse. I have turned my hobby into a small bespoke craft business.

, I work hard to preserve & celebrate the best of  Celtic traditions, arts & cultures. My fine art copper sculptures are known & admired the world over.

At the core of Celtic, Copper Craft is a real dedication to providing exceptional personal service to each of my clients, helping to connect them with Celtic arts & culture.

I am trying my best to keep the traditional Celtic art of copper repousse alive. But, unfortunately, the copper repousse is among the handcrafted art that is all but a lost, forgotten art in our modern times of mass production.

My copper artwork is best described as being traditional rustic organic. Just as in nature, there will be flaws. I tend to be drawn to the wear,& tear. However, I find it infinitely more beautiful and far more interesting than the flawless perfection of manufactured pieces.

The process of copper repousse is thousands of years-old technique of creating inflated copper designs. So when you repousse copper craft, you’re participating in an art form that has existed for thousands of years.

The repousse craft is tooling on a copper worksheet.  , I  start with the transfer of a  design onto the copper
When I imprinted the design on the copper, it was inflated with special tools. Next, I will craft the copper until the copper is transformed into beautiful artwork. Finally, I  backfill the copper artwork with Australian beeswax sourced from local beekeepers. This helps the copper keep its form.

I then apply the patina. – What is a patina? The use of chemistry creates a specific tonal visual look on the copper—metal will oxide with substances like Salt, Liver of Sulphur, and Vinegar. After the patina process, two coats of different types of quality lacquer are applied to protect the patinated copper art. As a result, the Copper artwork will very slowly and beautifully age over time.

I used basic hand tools with primitive techniques to craft this imperfectly perfect bespoke copper artwork. This is a traditional Celtic-crafted copper, representing a continuation of a long

 tradition of Celtic arts, which began with my ancient forefathers, "The Ancient Celts", crafted with Celtic magic in an ancient, honoured tradition.
